Data sources & attribution
Townlet combines open data, published business information and community submissions. Every description on Townlet is written by us as an original factual summary — we do not copy text or photographs from the sources below.
How we use these sources
Open data helps us know that a place or a town exists, and roughly where it is. It never decides what Townlet recommends. Records that come from OpenStreetMap stay identifiable in our database so attribution and licensing stay accurate, and place names and coordinates from geonames.org keep their original identifiers.
Food hygiene registrations are not endorsements
Food Standards Agency data tells us a food business is registered. It is a legal registration, not an editorial judgement — appearing in that data does not mean Townlet recommends a place, and a rating is not a Townlet review.
Logos and imagery
We do not display source organisations' logos or marks, because open data licences cover data rather than branding. Photographs on Townlet are either supplied to us, taken by us, or clearly labelled illustrations.
Something wrong?
Every listing and event has a “Report a problem” link, and businesses can claim their own page to keep details accurate. We check records regularly and show the date a record was last checked where we have one.
