Geoffrey Whitworth Theatre present Goodnight Mister Tom
As the approaching Second World War casts its dark shadow across London, troubled ten-year-old William Beech is evacuated to the countryside along with hundreds of others. Placed in the care of elderly, gruff widower Tom Oakley, William arrives fearful, withdrawn and uncertain of the world around him. What follows is an unexpected and deeply moving friendship that transforms both of their lives, bringing warmth, trust and hope where little existed before. But when William is forced to return to his abusive mother in London, the consequences are devastating. Tender, powerful and full of heart, Goodnight Mister Tom is a story of kindness, resilience and the extraordinary impact of being truly cared for.
