Geoffrey Whitworth Theatre presents Till The Start Come Down

Beth Steel’s play exudes the earthy humour and mayhem of a northern family drama, set during a sultry summer wedding day. At its heart is a trio of sisters whose relationship dominates and fuels the family dynamic, as the vodka flows, dances are shared and tensions begin to rise. Sylvia is getting married, and in Mansfield, a post-mining landscape alive with historical conflict and change, the atmosphere is already charged. What should be a celebration begins to tilt towards something far more volatile, as old loyalties, deep frustrations and the pressures of family life refuse to stay contained. Woven with a cacophony of Greek drama, this is a story of family crashing through life, sometimes hilariously, sometimes tragically, as passions boil over and the limits of love are tested. Raw, chaotic and painfully funny, it builds towards a breathless, explosive finale.
